DOHA: Qatari shares improved a bit yesterday even as it was the last day of trading before Eid Al Adha holidays which begin from today.
The 20-share index of Qatar Exchange inched up 43 points to 7,193 after Tuesday’s downslide. However, despite the index gain, insurance stocks took a massive beating as they fell more than two percent.
Some 16 of the 44 shares advanced at the end of yesterday’s trading while 17 fell and seven remained unchanged.
The gainers included Ezdan Real Estate, Al Meera and Qatar National Bank, among others. Among the losers, on the other hand, were Islamic Financial Securities and Islamic Insurance.
Al Meera stocks were ruling at QR55 having been listed at QR21.40 less than a month ago. They had peaked at QR57 a few days ago.
